Dear Alumnae,

As a fellow alumna, I urge you to take one of the many opportunities below to come back and see classmates, faculty and other members of the community.

Please join us at our 11th Annual Out of the Blue Gala next weekend, April 6 at the Boston Marriott Quincy. Alumna Jenna Paone '02 will emcee the evening as we celebrate one of NDA's most beloved members of the community, Donna Brickley.

Reunion planning is underway and we expect April 26-27 to be a great weekend here on campus.

Please join us for these wonderful spring events!

If you have not yet had the chance, please consider a gift to the Fund for NDA.

Sincerely,

Best,

Celebrating the Life of Sister Mary Janice Bartolo, SNDdeN

Last week, NDA celebrated the life of teacher, friend and colleague, Sister Mary Janice Bartolo. Her wake was held here on campus in our chapel where family, friends, Sisters, students and teachers shared their fondest memories of Mary Janice's quiet dedication to God. Her funeral Mass was at Resurrection Church in Hingham and she was laid to rest in Ipswich. She will be dearly missed--"Ah, Qu'il est bon, le bon Dieu!"

News from 1073 Main Street:

Amphitheater Groundbreaking Featured in the Patriot Ledger

The Patriot Ledger featured NDA's new amphitheater project, "Notre Dame Academy Breaks Ground on Amphitheater".

Through the generosity of a benefactor, we will honor the Class of 2019 and create a lasting legacy to this special time of year with a new project called School's Out! Our senior class "broke ground" on a much-needed outdoor amphitheater space designed to provide an area for gathering, celebrating, lunching, and learning. It will include a patio gifted by the Class of 2018, and it will be an area that will be shared by all for years.

Lucy Driscoll '09 Keynote Speaker at NDA's First Girl Scouts Robotics Day

On Saturday, March 23, NDA hosted its first Girl Scout Day @NDA. It began with keynote speaker Lucy Driscoll '09, a senior mechanical engineer at iRobot whose love of science is rooted in her alma mater. "Girls need to see female role models in STEM in order to pursue careers in STEM fields. I take every opportunity to show girls that robotics is fun, creative and most importantly, an activity that is just as much for them as it is for boys." says Driscoll.

Over 50 Girl Scouts in 4th and 5th grade participated in workshops where they collaboratively designed and programmed robots in NDA's top-notch science facilities and newly dedicated LEGO Robotics space. STEM education is something near and dear to NDA President Annemarie Lynch Kenneally's '80 heart. Her mother,  Anne Lynch was long-time science department chair at Notre Dame. Kenneally says, "NDA has been a champion of women in science for as long as I can remember. I grew up with that model and we continue to make opportunities like these available for girls."

Partnering with the Girl Scouts emphasizes NDA's commitment to giving girls the skills to enter STEM fields: 25% of NDA graduates of the last decade have majored in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, compared to 2% of those who attend co-ed schools.
