English

The English Department supports the development of strong reading, speaking, and writing skills. We provide the skills students need to confidently read and interpret challenging texts, both classic and modern. Students expand their ability to speak critically through thoughtful class discussion. They also develop a personal writing style through extensive written work. We enrich our overall curriculum by implementing various types of media and technology instruction where appropriate. All of these allow an NDA graduate to reach her greatest potential in English.

Beyond the Classroom

Yearbook

Students involved in the Yearbook brainstorm a theme each year, compile digital photos, use E-design to design layouts and pages, and work cooperatively to capture the spirit of NDA.

Student Newspaper

The Medallion is a student-run newspaper that reports on all newsworthy events that occur at NDA and around the world. Contributors from all grades are encouraged to attend weekly meetings where story ideas are exchanged and assigned.

British Culture Club

In this club, students seek to educate and expand their horizons about aspects of British culture using technology and literature. Students read, chat and study literature, movies and music, as well as current event topics related to Britain. Student use technology such as Skype and email to contact Notre Dame schools in England.
