Cuvilly Middle School
Grades 6-8

Cuvilly faculty are middle school specialists. Our teachers are passionate and committed to our students and subject areas. They encourage curiosity, inquisitiveness and collaboration.

Our middle school is dedicated to developing the whole girl — her intellect, her social and emotional skills, and her spiritual formation. Students learn how to think independently, explore connections, understand different perspectives, and have compassion for others. This type of learning gives our girls the opportunity to apply their knowledge to solve real world challenges.  

Cuvilly students explore six core subjects: theology, English, mathematics, science, social studies, world language. NDA’s middle school curriculum also includes art, music, theatre, technology, health and wellness and guidance seminar.

Guidance seminars are taught by our Cuvilly faculty. Students receive support while developing key skills for academic and social success. Seminars have an over-arching goal of developing middle school communication skills through our Billiart Leadership Institute. Each class begins with a brief activity in mindfulness, transitions to a lesson, and concludes with directed study and check-in.

Peer Mentors are student leaders committed to providing supportive and positive relationships with middle school students. They foster a sense of belonging within the school community and maintain an ongoing connection with their mentees throughout the year.  

Advisory creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where students feel valued by teachers and their peers. The program is guided by the Hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and empowers girls to thrive socially and academically. Advisory builds confidence, develops relational skills, and create belonging and connectedness. Students engage in reflection and discussions; set goals to create positive school experiences; and learn how to rely on their strengths.

Our mission-based interdisciplinary projects integrate skills from multiple disciplines to develop a mindset of curiosity, adaptability, and collaboration. These skills improve learning outcomes for students, helping them thrive beyond the classroom and navigate challenges with confidence.

As a Catholic faith formation community sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur to educate the next generation of leaders, projects aim to:

• honor the dignity and sacredness of each individual within our community and beyond
• strengthen our commitment to equality and justice for all
• foster collaboration to cultivate a transformative educational experience grounded in empathy and leadership
• assume responsibility to care for our common home and recognize the need to protect the earth for future generations
• encourage innovative inquiry

Middle school clubs are important because they let students explore diverse interests in a supportive, structured environment. We hold clubs during the school day to ensure every student can participate. Each year, we develop a new list of clubs specifically for Cuvilly students based on the interests of our girls.

NDA’s award-winning athletic program offers competitive middle school sports. Students may also try out for high school level sports. Parents are consulted when a middle school student has the opportunity to play on a high school-level team.

Our Cuvilly Visual and Performing Arts program provides girls with opportunities to think creatively, work collaboratively, and explore and express their own voices and passions.
