May 22, 2009 | NDA Marks One Hundred and Fifty Sixth Graduation
Family and friends of the 144 members of the Notre Dame Academy Class of 2009 gathered at the school's Hingham campus on Friday, May 22 to celebrate the graduation of NDA's 156th class. The graduates - hailing from 23 communities - have been accepted at 172 different colleges around the nation and abroad. They were sent off with remarks from this year's alumnae speaker, Maureen E. Feeney, class of 1966, Boston City Councilor. Victoria Mulloy of Plymouth was chosen, via an anonymous essay contest, to be the student graduation speaker. May 17, 2009 | Softball Team Clinches the Catholic Conference Title
The softball team was featured in The Boston Globe on May 17 for their winning season. Senior captains Jess Crimaldi, Maggie Holland, and Lauren Tarpy lead the team this season. Click here for the full story.
May 8, 2009 | Essay Contest Winner
A warm congratulations to junior Adaugo Ugocha who was one of four finalists in the state-wide Israel Arbeiter Essay Contest sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council. Adaugo's essay was chosen from over 300 submissions and she was recognized for her work at a recent ceremony at Fanueil Hall. She also won a trip to Washington, D.C. on Veteran's Day to tour the Holocaust Memorial Museum and other historic sites.

Mary Grzybinski P'06 '08 '11 ran the Boston Marathon and was joined by her daughters, Jennifer '06 and Deirdre '08 for the final two miles!  Click here to read the full article.
April 17, 2009 | Fastest Shot in Lacrosse
Congratulations to Kelsey Reilly, senior captain of the lacrosse team, who won the fastest shot competition during halftime at a Boston Blazers National Lacrosse League game. Kelsey shot 54 mph and won $1,000 for the lacrosse team. Junior Kate Brennan came in second, shooting 48 mph.

Player Dan Dawson of the Blazers presented a check to Kelsey and the team at NDA on Monday and challenged the girls to another exciting shoot-out.

April 17, 2009 | Pro-Life Oratory Contest Winnner
The Massachusetts Citizens for Life announced the winners of the 2009 Pro-Life Oratory Scholarship Contest and third place was awarded to Anastasia Flaherty '09. Anastasia spoke about the value of the unborn child and expressed the importance of human life at every stage of development.
March 27, 2009 | Robotics Team in Popular Science
The Robotics Team enjoyed a unique
experience this week - a photo shoot with a national magazine. While at a competition in February, they were approached by Popular Science and asked to appear in a photo with entrepreneur and Segway engineer, Dean Kamen. Kamen is the founder of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the premier robotics competition for high school students.
March 20, 2009 | Coach of the Year
NDA's head basketball coach Michael Barrett has been named the 2009 Division 2 Boston Globe Coach of the Year! Athletic Director Donna Brickley summed up why Coach Barrett was selected, "His vision and passion for the game is contagious and his conviction to putting a relentless team on the court has been tested and tried. Mike loves to compete!"
March 14, 2009 | Basketball Wins Division 2 Finals!
NDA defeated Millbury, 36-33, to give the Cougars their first Division 2 state basketball title in school history. Congratulations to the players and coaches for their terrific sportsmanship and team spirit.

March 9, 2009 | Basketball Team to the MIAA Division 2 Finals
NDA beat Arlington Catholic 46-38 on Monday and moves on to the MIAA Division 2 Finals. Senior Kelsey Reilly shared, "I got up there and knew what I had to do for the team and put them down." Click here for full coverage in the Patriot Ledger.
